About this Bridge Program
The Bridge to the Doctorate program is supported by a National Insititutes of Health (NIH) grant awarded to the NCA&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). This grant provides support for research-intensive Masters level training for underrepresented students who are interested in obtaining a PhD degree in biomedical sciences.
The primary objective of this two-year M.S. program is to prepare students for admission into PhD program throughout the county. Students are expected to complete a core curriculum in Bioinformatics and perfrom thesis research at NC A&T. Students will receive mentoring from faculty at NCA&T and UNC. Additionally, students will participate in workshops at NC A&T and UNC.
Students who are accepted into the Bridge program are provided with tuition support, a research assistantship, professional development opportunities, and travel support to attend national meetings to present their research.
